Hummingbird Pictures On My Front Porch
Here are some hummingbird pictures that I took on my front porch. My wife put up two hummingbird feeders and to our surprise we had some hummingbirds show up. We live in Albany, Louisiana which is in the south east part of Louisiana between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. When the feeders were first put out within a couple of hours a couple of hummingbirds showed up. The feeders have been up for about a month now and the flowers are blooming like crazy which has attracted a bunch of these small birds. I must of counted about 10 of them today flying around between three trees and the feeder and flowers.
I got my camera out and took these pictures. Click on them to see in full size.
Hummingbird landing on feeder
This is the feeder we use and find works very well. it is easy to clean and add more nectar to. It holds a lot of nectar and last for a long time. In fact we usually change out the nectar after about a week and put fresh nectar in it. I think the hummingbirds like the fresh home made nectar. The feeder in the picture was cleaned after we took these pictures. You can see some of the bugs that found their way into the feeder. We just finished with love bug season and now the feeder will not get as bugged up as they had been. The love bugs seemed to love the nectar.
This hummingbird picture was taken from inside my house looking out of the kitchen window.
Visit the National Geographic site to see a collection of hummingbirds and pictures of hummingbirds. I may add more of my own in the future when these little birds come around again.
